Texas Rangers Tickets Continued

1970 - AL Owners approve a proposed move of the Washinton Senators to Arlington, Texas.

1971 - Turnpike Stadium is enlarged and renamed Arlington Stadium. The franchise announces the relocated team will be called "The Texas Rangers".

1972 The Rangers beat the Angels 7-6 in their first home game.

1973 - Jim Bibby throws the teams first no-hitter against the A's.

1974 - An investor group fronted by Bradford G. Corbett purchases the franchise.

1976 - The Rangers sign a two-year deal with the City of Arlington to renovate and enlarge Arlington Stadium.

1977 - Bert Blyleven throws the Rangers second no-hitter against the Angels.

1980 - Corbett sells majority interest in the Rangers to H.E. Chiles.

1983- The Rangers finish the season with a 3.31 ERA and .962 Fielding percentage. Both stats are the best in the AL.

1987 - The Rangers purchase Arlington Stadium from the City of Arlington.

1988 - Nolan Ryan joins the Rangers as a free agent.

1989- An investor group led by George W. Bush purchases the controlling interest in the Rangers. Nolan Ryan strikes out Oakland's Rickey Henderson and becomes the first pitcher in major league history with 5,000 career strikeouts.

1993 - Nolan Ryan pitches his final game September 12th. Arlington Stadium closes its doors after 22 years as the home of Major League Baseball.

1994 - The Rangers play their first game at The Ballpark in Arlington, losing to the Mets 10-7.

1995 - The Rangers host the 66th All-Star Game.

1996 - Nolan Ryan's uniform number 34 is retired. The Rangers win the AL West Division Championship for the first time in franchise history.

1998 - An investor group led by Thomas O. Hicks purchases the Rangers. The Rangers win the AL West Championship yet again.

1999 - Rangers win the AL West Championship for the third time in four years.
