1900 - Deacon McGuire stuck his bat out to avoid an intentionally walk. The bat connects and allows the winning run to cross the plate.

1911 - Brooklyn beats the legendary Cy Young, 13-3, in his last Major League game.

1915 - After bragging that he could catch a baseball dropped from an airplane, Wilbert Robinson is set to prove his mettle. When pilot Ruth Law forgets to bring the baseball, she drops a grapefruit, which explodes on impact in Robbie's glove.

1920 - The Dodgers win the pennant. They fall to Cleveland in the World Series. The longest Dodgers in history takes place with a 26-inning 1-1 tie against Boston.

1930 - Al Lopez bounces a hit into the stands at Ebbets Field and it counts as a homer. The National League makes a rule the following year establishing the ground-rule double.

1938 - Ebbets Field hosts its first-ever night game under newly installed lighting.

1945 - Because of chronically thin rosters during the war, Babe Herman returns to the Dodgers after nearly eight years out of the game.

1947 - The Dodgers purchase Jackie Robinson from the Montreal Royal's breaking the color barrier. He is later named MVP. The Dodgers fall to the Yankees in game 7 of the World Series.

1958 - The Dodgers move to Los Angeles.

1962 - Sandy Koufax tosses his first no-hitter for a 5-0 win against the Mets at Dodger Stadium.

1963 - The Dodgers win the World Series.

1980 - Dodgers win the AL West.

1988 - The Dodgers win the World Series against the A's.

1990 - Eddie Murray ties Mickey Mantle's record when he homers from each side of the plate in the same game for the 10th time in his career.

1997 - Tommy Lasorda inducted into Hall of Fame.

2002 - The Dodgers set a new franchise record with 24 hits and a 19-1 win over the Diamondbacks.
